Always ahead of the curve, Milliken researchers saw an opportunity as early as 1970 to digitally print on carpets and rugs. The result was Millitron®, the flooring industry’s first computer-controlled inkjet carpet printing machine.  Millitron prints cutting-edge, high-resolution digital patterns with a wide range of color options utilizing an injection-dying process that permeates carpet fibers entirely with color.

Milliken scientists also invented TractionBack® carpet backing, a high-friction coating that is applied to Milliken’s modular flooring.  TractionBack technology keeps carpet tiles in place without the need for wet glues or “peel and stick” dry adhesives.  This helps to meet the challenge of VOC off-gassing from floor sealants and adhesives in commercial settings and improves indoor air quality.  Carpet tiles with TractionBack carpet backing stay put underfoot, yet they can easily be moved or repositioned.  Milliken modular carpet with TractionBack carpet backing significantly contributes to LEED certification.
